COMMUNICATION IN THE WORKPLACE
The most effective people are those who know themselves, recognise the demands of the situation and can adopt strategies to meet those needs. This programme will refresh the key skills that we need everyday to successfully get our message across, build relationships, influence others and become a better communicator in all situations.
Whilst, in most cases, these skills rely heavily on common-sense, without enhancing our self-awareness through practise and constant feedback they can quickly lose their impact and effectiveness.
This programme is designed as a first time personal development skills event for those who, to be effective, need to communicate to and work with and through others. The ideal candidate will be those who are in the early part of their career or who wish to revisit basic skills.
To assess participants current skills and styles of communication and compare these to best practice. To discuss and practise basic communication techniques including effective listening, questioning and communication media.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and benefits of effective communication
- Assess their communication strengths and weaknesses
- Identify appropriate communication media
- Identify barriers to effective communication
- Use effective questioning techniques
- Improve the quality of their listening
